Frequently Asked Questions
Find clear answers about NDIS support, accommodation, daily assistance, eligibility, and choosing suitable services with us across Greater Melbourne and Victoria.
Supported Independent Living provides support workers to assist people with higher support needs with daily tasks at home. It is generally suited to people who need substantial support or supervision throughout the day and overnight while working towards greater independence.
SIL can include assistance with personal care, cooking and meals, household tasks, daily routines, skill development, social activities, appointments, and other everyday tasks based on your support needs.
SIL provides funding for support workers who assist with daily living, while SDA is specially designed housing for people with extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. Some participants may have both.
MTA may be available to eligible participants who temporarily cannot move into their long-term home, such as when an SDA property is not ready, or approved home modifications prevent them from staying at home.
Consider whether the provider offers the services you require, understands your goals, communicates clearly, and can deliver support that suits your circumstances. You can also discuss options with your support coordinator, planner, or NDIS contact.
